Chief Operations Officer (COO)
Tanya Stringer, who has over 20 years of healthcare management experience, is the Chief Operating Officer at UNLV Medicine.
For several years she worked in her hometown of Chicago, first as operations manager of the physician group of Advocate Healthcare, the largest integrated health system in Illinois. She then became Riverside Medical Center’s Vice President for Practice Plan Development. In this role, she led physician recruitment, improvement in patient satisfaction, and revenue enhancement as the physician group experienced 70% new growth.
Starting in 2014 Tanya worked in Houston as the Harris Health System’s Vice President of Operation of Primary Care. She operated 18 clinics with over 1000 employees and a $100 million budget. She also was responsible for facility management, engineering, security services, and the operation of 14 outpatient pharmacies.
Under her leadership at the Harris Health System, patient volume increased to over 200,000 distinct patients and over 1 million visits per year in the primary care arena. She revamped the Medical Home program using EPIC, software that stores medical records, to redo physician and mid-level provider templates to lower no-show rates and increase physician satisfaction. She also oversaw efforts that led to record high levels of HEDIS (Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set) quality scores as well as never before seen patient satisfaction scores. And last year she chaired a workgroup that organized and implemented home delivery of medications for clinic patients using the EPIC My Health application.
